According to authorities, the vehicle, described as a red Ford SUV, left the roadway and struck a light pole before rolling over. Dakari was transported to a local hospital following the crash, but the six-month-old was later pronounced dead. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified him as Dakari Lomax of Chicago.
Seven other people were also taken to hospitals following the crash with injuries. The incident resulted in a temporary closure of the northbound lanes and the entrance ramp from 147th Street while authorities investigated the scene and recovered the vehicle.

Police also reported that the children inside the vehicle were not secured in child safety seats at the time of the crash. The allegations are now part of an ongoing legal case, and Hope is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
